A neighborhood staple for its lush and spacious outdoor beer garden, the owners of Parleaux Beer Lab desired to increase indoor seating to overcome the daunting New Orleans summers. Adopting this to an increased covered outdoor seating area, in addition to the renovation of the existing second floor warehouse space, the direction of extending the elements of the outdoor space into the elevated built environment became a clear path. The proposed wood railing bridges the existing wood fence and the utilitarian warehouse structure. Providing elements for plants, used in the production of seasonal beers, allows the natural elements of the courtyard to weave into the new balcony, allowing for a continuous experience. The interior provides for expansive views out toward the Mississippi River and the passing ship traffic.
